Varian Medical Systems Launches New Web Site about Non-Invasive Neurosurgery Solutions and Their Clinical Applications

PALO ALTO, Calif. – April 25, 2006 – Varian Medical Systems (NYSE:VAR) today announced the launch of a new web site about the company’s solutions for delivering state-of-the-art non-invasive neurosurgery.

“We have designed our new website to serve as a substantive resource for clinicians and others interested in Varian’s technology for delivering radiosurgery,‿ says Lester Boeh, vice president and general manager of Varian Surgical Sciences. “In addition to information about our technology for image-guided radiosurgery, we are highlighting the radiosurgery treatment process, as well as simulated case models that illustrate how our advanced technology can be used to help patients with a wide variety of conditions. We are committed to providing clinicians with technology and products for effective, fast, comfortable and affordable treatments.‿

Varian’s radiosurgery solutions are built around the company’s Trilogy™ instrument for image-guided radiosurgery. The new website includes case models for Trilogy treatments of such diverse conditions as acoustic schwannoma, arteriovenous malformation, multiple brain metastases, and pituitary adenoma, as well as metastatic lesions of the spine, lung, and liver.

“Trilogy is a truly versatile radiosurgery device, and can be used to treat lesions and abnormalities in the brain, head, neck, and body,‿ says Calvin Huntzinger, marketing and engineering manager for Varian Surgical Sciences. “If a neurosurgeon is dealing with brain cancer that has metastasized to the lung or liver, he or she can address all aspects of the problem using this one machine.‿
