(NYSE: VAR)and Novation, the supply company for VHA Inc. and University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), two national health care alliances, today announced a three-year agreement to supply VHA and UHC members with advanced radiotherapy systems for treating cancer. The contract covers Varian's state-of-the-art equipment and software for SmartBeam™ IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy), a new form of highly precise radiation therapy that targets cancer cells with high doses while minimizing the exposure of nearby healthy tissue.
